A Good Weekend

Kevin’s platelet levels rose both Saturday and Sunday! We were concerned that the radiation was making his platelets drop, but if that were the case, it probably would have taken a couple more days of no radiation for his platelet levels to bottom out. Now, we are more convinced that the platelets were reacting to a medication that Kevin stopped taking on Thursday. The radiation oncologists may still decide to switch to more localized radiation sometime this week to give his bone marrow in his spine a break, but at this point, radiation is still scheduled to continue.

Kevin had two good days of rest. He enjoyed a chocolate milkshake from Jeffrey’s Hamburgers on Saturday night. He had to drink it slowly because it was so thick (lots of ice cream in that one!), but he liked it, and reported that it’s also tied for third.

We have been trying to convince Kevin to get out of the hospital bed and sit up in a chair more often, and we were more successful with that convincing this weekend. Today, he ate two meals in a chair (that may be a record since he got to Stanford), watched most of both football games in the chair and went for a wheelchair ride outside to get some much needed love, licks and dog hair from Chammy. We’re very proud of his hard work!

Dear Rich, Carolyn, Kevin and Stacey,
So glad that the platelet count continued to go up both Saturday and Sunday. The internet at home was not working the last few days and I missed the chance to check in. Thanks so much Stacey and all for keeping us all posted on Kevin's progress I know for sure that we all really appreciate your efforts. You all continue to be in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Hugs to each of you.
Love,
Trish Cronin

Hi Williams,
We are so glad to hear the positive report of the platelet levels. We were in Palo Alto over the weekend for family business and ate at the Peninsula Creamery and of course enjoyed the milk shakes. Chocolate Chip was a table favorite.

We hope Kevin wasn't rooting for the Vikings...

Thinking of you,
The Murphys

Shout out to Kevin and family from Colgate. Gotta love getting out to see the dog (and I'm sure Chammy enjoyed the visit just as much)! I'd love to send over a milkshake from Gilligans for a fresh taste and consideration in the rankings, but I think it would be pretty nasty as far as milkshakes go after such a long trip ;-)

Keep the positive steps coming! You've got a lot of friends at Colgate, Kevin, and we're all thinking of you.

Hi Kevin and Family, good to hear that Kevin is sitting up, his platelets are up, watching the tube, etc. All good news! I agree with Susan Murphy! We were rooting for the Saints, too! Love, Christine, Kim, and Max

Greetings from Montana to Cousin Rich, Carolyn, Kevin, Stacy, Kathlin, and Uncle Dick and Aunt Willi-
I just found out about your blog this weekend - its so good to know that we can now keep informed on Kevin's progress. We are much relieved to hear that the progosis is better than originally thought. There have been lots of prayers and positive thoughts flowing from the Montana Williamses since we heard about Kevin's illness, and being able to check in and keep up on what's happening will be comforting to all of us.
